Lastly, mites can be a real health issue for pet hermit crabs. If you bring home a pet hermit crab with mites, he will infect the entire aquarium as well as other crabs with him. When purchasing a new hermit crab at the pet store, always look inside the shell and on the crab to make sure there aren’t mites attached to the crab.
